A Chronological Introduction to Yungblud’s Music

  1. I Think I’m Okay - In 2019 Yungblud and his good buddy Machine Gun Kelly worked with Travis Barker to create their hit single 'I Think I'm Okay,' which was the final song on MGK's most popular rap album Hotel Diablo, foreshadowing his shift in genre and acting as the catalyst for new wave pop punk. Travis Barker's star power and influence in the music industry helped put MGK and Yungblud on the map in the punk scene. This track also served as the first of many hits to follow that Barker would lend his name and production talents to, helping catapult many aspiring young rockstars to fame, such as POORSTACY, kennyhoopla, $uicideboy$, Jack Kays, and Sueco.

  2. Acting Like That - It is now 2020 and this time MGK returns the favor and is featured on Yungblud's album, lending his vocals to 'acting like that,' the single that would introduce Yungblud's next album. This song is a classic pop punk banger.

*This is also when MGK released Tickets to My Downfall with the help of Travis Barker’s iconic drumming style, which went on to be his first certified platinum album and revolutionized the upcoming path of the music industry, specifically in the punk scene.

*This is also where we see the return of all lowercase song titles, an ode to the 2000s punk scene that has since been picked up by other artists following MGK and Yungblud’s lead.

  3. weird! - Yungblud released his second studio album, 'weird!' which is about being different and accepting yourself.  ‘weird!’ includes 14 songs about growing up and standing out, and now serves as his main branding. My favorite songs from the album are ‘mars,’ ‘strawberry lipstick,’ and ‘love song.’

  4. fleabag - Yungblud released his single 'fleabag,' switching up his classic pop-punk sound for more heavy rock influences. The chorus will have you scream-singing “I'm just a fleabag, nobody loves me // Send me to rehab, somebody touch me” alone in your car on the daily.

  5. The Funeral - Yungblud released the first single for his upcoming album. 'The Funeral' gives us a sneak peek at what's to come and displays his growth and incredible vocal strength. We also see a transition back to titles with capital letters, possibly indicating his growth or desire to be taken more seriously as an artist.

  6. Memories - Yungblud collabs with WILLOW (Willow Smith) on his next single, 'Memories.' WILLOW's style is a bit more aggressive than Yungblud's, and her 'screamo' esque vocals help lend a rock vibe to Yungblud's pop punk sound. She hits an insane note at the end of her verse with the lyrics “I can’t fucking cry in front of her.” Her insane range at such a young age will leave you shocked and impressed.

*She also toured with MGK on his Mainstream Sellout tour, and dropped her album <COPINGMECHANISMS> shortly after Yungblud's album came out.

  7. YUNGBLUD - Yungblud drops his self-titled album YUNGBLUD. He combines lyrics about heartbreak and not fitting in with upbeat pop tracks, and in this album, we can really hear his growth over the last few years since 'weird!' In typical pop punk fashion, he layers vulnerable lyrics over fast-paced, rock n’ roll sounds to create that angry juxtaposition we all know and love.

  8. When We Die (Can We Still Get High?) - A major part of Yungblud’s appeal is his commitment to trying new things and diversifying his music. This song is a divergence from his previous style, featuring rapper Lil Yachty’s vocals. Until this point, Yungblud has only worked with artists who are also in the punk scene. When We Die (Can We Still Get High?) is soft and slow and vulnerable, and makes you feel like you’re floating on a cloud. I would love to hear more songs in this style so we can hear more of Yungblud’s vocal power.

  9. Bludfest - Huge News! Yungblud announces his very own festival, Bludfest! Set to take place in the UK in August of 2024, the lineup features Lil Yachty, Nessa Barrett, girlfriend Jesse Jo Stark, and Travis Barker’s son, Landon Barker. Yungblud is all about celebrating differences and the community he has cultivated, and this festival is sure to exemplify these values. He has set up a meeting spot for anyone who wants to attend the show but doesn’t have anyone to go with, encouraging his fans to get to know each other and make new friends through his music.

  10. I Was Made For Lovin’ You (from The Fall Guy) - In 2024 Yungblud received the honor of covering the hit KISS song ‘I Was Made For Lovin’ You’ for the Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt film, ‘The Fall Guy.’ In this cover, we really get to hear what his voice is capable of. The vocal range and power in this song will give you chills and leave you wanting more. (He also confirmed that Ryan Gosling is even hotter in person).

  11. breakdown. - In Yungblud’s most recent single, we see a return to lowercase titles, perhaps signaling a new creative era. Again we see him branching out stylistically, as this song includes some drum and bass sequences, something we’ve never seen him use before.
