Introducing Maggie Lindemann

If you’re a black haired stylish as hell pop punk baddie and you know it, Maggie Lindemann is going to be your new favorite. This girl is the hottest thing on the scene right now. I have a special affinity for her because she was also born in 1998, and I resonate spiritually with her all-black gothic style adorned with lots of accessories.

She broke out onto the scene in 2016 with her hit single ‘Pretty Girl,’ but you may know her from her song ‘Moon and Stars’ with rapper Gosha. I first got into Maggie when her song ‘Friends Go’ came out in 2019 with hit drummer and now pop punk star creator Travis Barker. I heard her vocals and was immediately obsessed. She released several other singles after this, including with her personal friend Siiickbrain, who she continues to make music with today.

Her first EP came out in 2021 and was titled PARANOIA. This album has an aggressive sound, with the first three songs being ‘Knife Under My Pillow,’ ‘GASLIGHT!’ with Siiickbrain (lots of screaming), and Scissorhands (deep sultry vocals). I enjoyed this album a lot, but her 2022 album SUCKERPUNCH is where we really get to see her talents shine. We also see her switch to all lowercase letters for her song titles, following the trend of many punk artists before her during this time such as Machine Gun Kelly and Yunglbud. This album is raw and vulnerable, and Maggie’s voice is incomparable. We experience her heartbreak and grief in ‘take me nowhere,’ ‘casualty of your dreams,’ and ‘phases.’ We get another song (‘break me!’) with bestie Siiickbrain. We feel the depth of her pain in ‘novocaine,’ and ‘we never even dated,’ and we get to see her taking her power back in ‘you’re not special’ (perfect song for if you’re coming off a breakup). We hear from her directly about her bisexuality as well. The other feature on her album was pop legend Kellin Quinn of Sleeping with Sirens. All in all, we see a tremendous amount of growth from Maggie in this album, which contains 15 intense ballads by the singer/songwriter. She credits Avril Lavigne, Lana Del Rey, and XXXTENTACION as some of her biggest musical influences. In 2023 we got the deluxe version of SUCKERPUNCH and another single with Siiickbrain called ‘deprecating,’ teasing the album that was soon to come, HEADSPLIT. Before the album, we got another single ‘hostage,’ which Maggie released with a campaign of photos of her in a long white gown with even longer black extensions. Maggie’s dark gothic style lends itself perfectly to her intense lyrics and sound, with song titles such as ‘rip my heart out,’ ‘die for,’ and ‘you hold my love.’ The final song on the album, ‘24’ featuring Jasiah, is my favorite of the project.

Maggie also has a personal brand known as ‘SWIXXZ.’ She founded a record label under this name in 2020 as well as a fashion line. Her swixxz clothing has a 90’s alternative punk feel and is available online or in-store at Zumiez. Swixxz was her solution to her distaste for merch, as she wanted fans to be able to buy clothes that she would wear herself instead of clothes with her face on them. The clothing featured is an awesome alternative style, unlike anything else out there at the moment. It’s very unique and showcases Maggie’s multifaceted creativity. I have purchased two tops from the brand, and the quality is definitely worth the cost. She also released a 10-episode podcast under the same name, where she discusses the process of creating and releasing her first album PARANOIA.
